Kenny Chesney is announcing something big, and soon. The East Tennessee native is making two televised appearances this week, both on the Today Show on January 16 (during the 8:00 AM hour), and later that day on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
While it’s unclear what Chesney will reveal, no one is more eager to share the big news than Chesney himself.
“I have always been one to let the music do the talking,” Chesney says. “I think when we’re onstage, connecting with No Shoes Nation, nothing else really needs to be said. When they sing these songs back to me, that says everything. That said, this year is going to be unlike any other. This is one time when I probably do need to get out and explain exactly what we’re up to.
“But for now, I can say this: I am incredibly ramped up about what we’re in the middle of making happen for 2025,” he continues. “It’s one of those things where you can’t just throw it out there – so I am really glad we’re getting to spend some time at Today and then The Tonight Show.”
Chesney does hint that his love of recording, his band, and his No Shoes Nation fan club are the driving forces behind the big announcement he is ready to make.
“The thing about so many of my songs is they’re pieces of people’s lives,” Chesney says. “Almost everyone can see themselves in there somehow. To me, singing people’s reality and hopefully showing them how sweet life can be sets a pretty cool bar.”
“There’s nothing like No Shoes Nation when they come together. It’s the greatest high there is,” the country music superstar adds. “We’ve been pulling songs out that we’ve not played in years, so who knows?”

Earlier this month, Chesney posted a cryptic message on social media, captioning a photo of him in the studio by saying, “New year and new experiences. Started rehearsals today for what’s next. Can’t wait to share.”
Chesney is inching close to having a Top 20 hit with “Just To Say We Did.” The song, from his latest BORN album, was written by Chesney, along with Brett James, David Lee Murphy and Matt Dragstrem.
“Everywhere we went, everyone was asking for the same song,” Chesney says of his decision to release “Just To Say We Did” after “Take Her Home” became his 33rd No. 1 hit. “Everybody wanted us to release ‘Just To Say We Did.’ It was insane how almost unanimous it was, but it’s also pretty much a perfect summer song. I mean, if there’s ever a time when you’re gonna get out of your comfort zone, do something crazy or unthinkable, it’s now.
“And the thing I loved about the song when we were putting BORN together was that idea of ‘shoot your shot!’ Whatever it is, forget the excuses – just do it!” he continues. “Don’t look down, don’t look back! Just jump into the moment and ride it for all it’s worth.”
