Kimberly Perry is releasing a solo album. The singer-songwriter announced that she signed a deal with RECORDS Nashville, after announcing that The Band Perry, the group she shared with her siblings, Reid and Neil Perry, was disbanding.
“From the moment I met the team at RECORDS, their appreciation for my journey and my vision for the future as a solo artist has been overwhelming,” Perry says in a statement. “Everything came together so organically, and it felt right from the very start. I have wanted to live in Nashville since I was eight years old, but I only recently got to officially plant roots here.
“Being in this town of amazing, creative people for the past year brought me full circle to my original passions – country music and sharing meaningful stories,” the Mississippi native continues. “I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful and welcoming community here, and I feel equally lucky to have found the perfect partner in RECORDS to get my new music out to the fans.”
The Band Perry rose to prominence in 2010 with their eponymous debut album. The record included the No. 1 hits, “If I Die Young” and “All Your Life.” Their sophomore album, Pioneer, included “Better Dig Two” and “Done.” After an attempt to go more pop with their music, The Band Perry failed to have any more hits at country radio.
Last month, the trio shared on social media that they were ending, at least for now, their joint musical venture.

“We wanted to let you know that the three of us have decided to take a creative break as a group and each focus on our individual creative pursuits,” the three write in a joint statement. “During this season we will continue to support each other as artists and family in all we do. Thank you for making our childhood dreams come true! Love you all. Kimberly, Reid and Neil.”
Perry also spoke out about her new solo venture in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“Well – I’m home!” she writes. “These last couple of years have been a wild and wonderful season of change for me. I met [Johnny Costello] in Dallas and married him at midnight in Vegas 8 months later, I fulfilled my dream since I was 8 years old of moving to Nashville, I cut some apron strings and started writing songs with the town’s (and the world’s) greatest writers as a solo artist for the first time in my life. I’ve reconnected with myself and my creative center – it’s all been so beautiful.

“Today I want to share the good news with you that I, at long last, have found my label home with RECORDS Nashville!” she continues. “A good home nurtures you, comforts you, and helps you grow by challenging your ideas while still supporting your dreams. That’s what [RECORDS] is for me and my solo voice. I feel so seen – finally. I love you all! Can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been feeling, and learning, and experiencing. Maybe we can all sing about it together soon? Thank you for leaving the light on for me.”
No word yet when Perry’s debut solo project will be released.
