Lady A‘s Hillary Scott was part of Thomas Rhett’s recent No. 1 hit, “Be a Light.” The optimistic tune which Thomas wrote with Matt Dragstrem, Josh Miller and Josh Thompson, also includes Keith Urban, Reba McEntire and Chris Tomlin, and became his 16th time to have a song at the top of the charts.
Not even Thomas could have predicted, when “Be a Light” was written how timely the song, which says in part, “In a time full of war, be peace / In a time full of doubt, just believe / Yeah, there ain’t that much difference between you and me / In a time full of war, be peace,” would become.
“It’s almost like God gave Thomas Rhett a message that he knew the world would need months later,” Hillary told ABC Audio. “To be asked to be a part of that, towards the tail end of last year, to then record it, and to see just what this song has done — it’s been one that I go to just to find peace and kind of reset my mind and heart in just the midst of everything that’s been going on over these last several months.”
Hillary also had high praise for Thomas, who was just crowned the ACM Entertainer of the Year, along with Carrie Underwood.
“It’s just so incredible to see his career, just the trajectory it’s been on,” Hillary boasted. “And to be a part of it … I’m just really thankful I got invited.”
Lady A’s current single, “Champagne Night,” is currently in the Top 25. The trio, which also includes Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, have yet to announce 2021 tour plans, after being forced to cancel their Ocean 2020 Tour because of COVID-19.
