Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott admits it isn’t always easy dealing with the ongoing restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. The mother of three opened up about her own struggles, while appearing on The Bobby Bones Show from her own home.
“It’s been good,” Hillary acknowledged. “I will say, I’ve had to hide in my car a couple times. Just needing a minute, or just take a little drive. We’ve all kind of found our ways to cope, I think, as best as we can. But right now, it’s so much about homeschooling my oldest daughter (Eisele, 6), keeping our two-year-old twins (Emory and Betsy) occupied. So there’s only a few hours every day that I’m able to take that aren’t revolving around the kiddos.
“I’m trying to take those moments to look inward and kind of process all of this,” she continued. “And it’s been a challenge, but you know what? I know I’ll never under-appreciate stepping on a stage again, or a hug from a friend. It’s all of the things that you miss so much, that you’re like, ‘I’m never going to take this for granted again.'”
Lady Antebellum just announced they were dropping “Champagne Night” as their new single, instead of “What I’m Leaving For,” which had just been released. The song was written by Hillary, along with fellow Lady Antebellum members Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley, as well as Songland winner Madeline Merlo and the show’s mentor, Shane McAnally.
“What I love so much about ‘Champagne Night’ is just how the song makes me feel,” Hillary explained. “It’s just so happy and fun and makes me just want to have a great time with people I love. And I love the story of this song I love that Madeline Merlo got this big, huge chance to come on Songland and work with Shane McAnally, and that now we’re all celebrating the fact that this song got such a great response by the fans that it had to be the single.
“And so, I couldn’t be more excited for Madeline as an up and coming songwriter,” she added. “I just know that this is the first of many for her.”
