Lainey Wilson is back at the top. The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year just scored her seventh No.1 hit with “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.” The song is her third, and likely final, single from her sophomore Bell Bottom Country album.
“It’s such an honor to have ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ No.1 at country radio,” Wilson says. “This song has such a special place in my heart, as a fifth-generation farmer’s daughter and someone who grew up on wide open land.
“Thank you to my collaborators, Jay Joyce, Trannie Anderson, and Paul Sikes for helping bring this track to life,” she continues. “And to my fans, my wild horses, this is your theme song; none of this would be possible without you.”
Wilson also shared her thoughts on the career achievement on social media, along with a few photos.

“‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ is the #1 song at country radio this week,” Wilson writes. “This song has always been about hard-work, determination, and grit…the values that raised me as the daughter of a fifth generation farmer and horse trader (thanks Deddy). Hearing y’all sing/clap/stomp along to this one on the road has been unreal. Thank you Trannie Anderson and Paul Sikes for going outside of the box with me the day we wrote this.
“We got to make a little movie in a song with this gem didn’t we? I’m extra proud of this one and have loved seeing it become the anthem for MY wild horses,” she added.
Wilson’s career is continuing its rapid ascent. The Louisiana native is nominated for five ACM Awards, including Entertainer of the Year. She also joins Keith Urban on his new song, “Go Home W U.”
“He is a mentor of mine,” Wilson told The Project. “He’s a friend. He’s that guy that just kind of lifts me up and encourages me every time he sees me. And when you’ve got people like Keith Urban encouraging you and believing in you, you really do feel like you can do it.”
In many ways, Wilson is just getting started in her country music career, but she plans on sticking with it for a long, long time, much like her musical idol, Reba McEntire.
“It seems like there are so many blessings that have all come at once,” Wilson admitted on Audacy’s Rob + Holly show. “I’ve been in Nashville for 13 years, but I feel like my dreams just keep adding on. I have dreams now that I didn’t even know that I had. Even when it comes to the acting stuff, I want to dabble in that a little bit more. There is so much that I want to do.
“When I think about the kind of career I want to have, I think of Reba, and she’s not scared to do all of it,” she continues. “At the end of the day, awards are nice and you love that recognition. I accept it, it’s a gift. but I can’t let that be the thing that drives me.”
Wilson will spend part of the year headlining her own Country’s Cool Again Tour. Find “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” and all of Wilson’s music and upcoming shows at LaineyWilson.com.
