It’s a good year to be Lainey Wilson. The singer-songwriter leads the pack of CMA Awards nominees with six nods, including for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year, for her debut Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin‘ album.
“6 NOMINATIONS!?!? I’m speechless,” Wilson tweeted. “While I try to find the words just know that I’m blown away and so so honored and proud to be nominated. Thank you to the entire country music community!”

Wilson also received two nominations, both Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year, for her “Never Say Never” duet with Cole Swindell. Her other two nominations are for Song of the Year, for “Things a Man Oughta Know,” and New Artist of the Year.
It already seems promising that Wilson could be nominated for another collaboration next year. The 30-year-old is back at radio with “wait in the truck,” her new duet with HARDY.
“I always love working with HARDY, but this track is extra special,” Wilson says. “I am so proud to be part of ‘wait in the truck’ because it’s such a powerful song and story, and I really do think it will change lives.”
Wilson just announced the release of her sophomore Bell Bottom Country album, released on October 28. The 14-track record includes her current single, “Heart Like A Truck,” out now.
“I’ve lived quite a bit of life the past few years, and I have a lot more to say,” Wilson says of her next set of tunes. “Sure, I love a good pair of bell bottoms, but Bell Bottom Country to me has always been about the flare and what makes someone unique — I have really embraced mine, and I hope y’all can hear that across this project.”
Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton follow Wilson in the most CMA Awards nominations, with five nods each. McBryde and Pearce join Wilson in the Female Vocalist of the Year category,
Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will serve as hosts of the 2022 CMA Awards. The ceremony will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 9, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
