A duet between Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert is coming soon! The two female country music superstars combine their talents on a new song, “Good Horses,” out on August 2. The duet is part of Wilson’s forthcoming Whirlwind record, which will be released on August 23.
Wilson shared a snippet of the song on social media, which she debuted at her show last month at Ascend Amphitheater, to kick off her current Country’s Cool Again Tour, bringing Lambert out as a surprise guest.

Wilson already released her current single, “Hang Tight Honey,” from Whirlwind. The song follows “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” which was Wilson’s seventh consecutive No. 1 single, and the final release from her sophomore Bell Bottom Country project. The song was written by Wilson, along with Jason Nix, Driver Williams and Paul Sikes
“Jason Nix sent me what he, Driver Williams and Paul Sikes started together, to see if it was something that I was interested in finishing, and it was an immediate ‘Heck yeah,’ from me,” Wilson recalled to iHeartCountry, sharing the story behind the feel-good track. “They had started it with me and my story in mind, and I felt like it was coming from an interesting angle that I haven’t heard in a while, or really at all.
“‘Hang tight’ is something that my folks have always said to me growing up,” she added. “So whether that meant hang tight while sitting on the back of a truck, or hang tight on the back of a horse, those words, they made me feel at home.”
“Hang Tight Honey” was at least partly inspired by Wilson’s boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, whom she began dating in 2021, and has publicly praised for his support of her since her career began.
“He knew getting into this, this is what I’ve been doing my whole life, this is what I’m gonna do, and so he knew what he was getting himself into,” the 32-year-old recently shared on Audacy’s Rob + Holly. “He is a supportive cheerleader and he’s got his own things going too, and I support him and I cheer him on. He high-fives me in the door and on the way out.”
“Good Horses” and “Hang Tight Honey” are just part of Wilson’s third studio album, which she is eager and excited to share with the world.
“I felt like I wanted to share a part of me that I didn’t even know existed,” the new Grand Ole Opry member explained on the Today Show.. “I wanted to find that. And I think these last couple of years, because it has been a constant leveling up, I cannot let go of who I am at my core, because the music’s not going to be the same. So for me, when I was writing this record, I was making dang sure that both of my feet were planted on the ground.”
