Lainey Wilson Talks ‘Whirlwind’ Album, Announces Release of New Song

Lainey Wilson has a new song she is getting ready to release, from her forthcoming album. The 32-year-old will drop “4X4XU” on July 4, from Whirlwind, which will be out on August 23.

“Writing and recording these 14 songs over the past couple of years has helped me stay grounded in ways you’d never believe,” Wilson shares on social media. “This album brought me back to my roots and made me feel at home during times when I couldn’t have been further away and my biggest hope is that it gives you that same sense of comfort that it has for me.”

Wilson has a Top 20 single with “Hang Tight Honey,” the debut single from Whirlwind.

“Jason Nix sent me what he, Driver Williams and Paul Sikes started together, to see if it was something that I was interested in finishing, and it was an immediate ‘Heck yeah,’ from me,” Wilson tells iHeartCountry. “They had started it with me and my story in mind, and I felt like it was coming from an interesting angle that I haven’t heard in a while, or really at all.

“‘Hang tight’ is something that my folks have always said to me growing up,” she adds. “So whether that meant hang tight while sitting on the back of a truck, or hang tight on the back of a horse, those words, they made me feel at home.”

Whirlwind, which follows Wilson’s sophomore Bell Bottom Countrrecord, is a summation of the Louisana native’s life over the last few years, including seven consecutive No. 1 singles, multiple awards, her own Bell Bottoms Up Bar, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry and more.

“This album has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait for the world to have this body of work in their hands soon,” Wilson said when announcing the album. “This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal piece of art I’ve ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”

Once Wilson started getting momentum in her now-superstar career, things happened quickly, but it took a long, long time — and a lot of patience — for Wilson to start seeing the fruits of her labors In hindsight, Wilson is now grateful for everything she endured, even the hard times.

“I didn’t know what it was going to look like, but I truly do think that that rejection and the time that it has taken me to get to this point, because, I mean, this year it’ll be 13 years that I’ve been in Nashville doing it,” Wilson tells Fox News“I think it’s really just a part of my story. And I think the Lord kind of wanted me to live a little bit more life so I could have more stories to tell, so I could relate to more people.

“That’s what it’s about,” she continues. ‘When you kind of zoom out and you think about all of this. It’s important to remember and realize, why are we doing this? And what are we doing this for? It’s just because we all want to feel something. And, I think, because of that rejection, I think people can relate to some of my stories.”

.Wilson will spend part of the year headlining her own Country’s Cool Again Tour. Pre-order/pre-save “4X4XU,” and find all of Wilson’s music and upcoming shows at LaineyWilson.com.
