Landon Parker has a new song and video out, “Your Baby Girl.” The rising star released the emotional ballad and video on March 10, in celebration of his second wedding anniversary to his wife, McKenzie. Parker wrote the song in tribute to his wife and her father.

“When we got engaged, I knew I wanted to do something special, so I wrote ‘Your Baby Girl’ for my now-wife and father-in-law to dance to at the wedding,” Parker tells Everything Nash. “It was really a meaningful moment for us; there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Ten months to the day later, we had our own baby girl, Lainey, and now the song has taken on an entirely new life for me.”

It was Parker’s idea to pen something that McKenzie and her father could dance to at the reception, but he had no idea that the end result would be something as powerful as “Your Baby Girl.”

“I told her that I wanted to write a father-daughter dance song for her,” Parker told People of the song he wrote, via Zoom, with Matt Nolen and Skip Black. “I told her I didn’t know how good it was going to be, but I’m going to come up with something.”

“Your Baby Girl” is Parker having a conversation with McKenzie’s father, looking back at the relationship the two had since she was born.

“The whole song is me talking to her dad, saying thank you for bringing an angel into the world,” Parker explains. “We wrote that song fairly fast because it was right there, right in front of us.”

Parker met McKenzie at a Nashville bar in 2016. But perhaps ironically, he met her father a year before, when he was in her hometown assisting flood victims.

“He’s a bit of an intimidating man,” Parker admits with a laugh. “He just wants the best for his baby girl. When I asked him to marry Mackenzie, I was so nervous. I was bumbling all over my words because I just love Mackenzie so much and I just want to be half the man he is.”
