Lauren Alaina Mourns Loss of Father: ‘I Really Don’t Have Words Yet’

Lauren Alaina is mourning the loss of her father. The American Idol alum reveals on social media that her father, J.J. Suddeth, has passed away.

“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet,” Alaina says in a posted statement. “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte, as I am going home to be with my family.

“Thank you for your prayers and understanding. Pinky,” she concluded, referencing a pet name given to her by her father.

Alaina married Cam Arnold in February. She later shared a song on social media that she wrote for her father, in honor of her wedding.

“I wrote this song for my daddy for our daddy/daughter dance. It was such a special moment during our wedding. I will truly never forget it,” Alaina said, adding a lyric from the song.

I knew I found the one when they became best friends. My good ole boy and My Ole Man,” she wrote.

Alaina’s parents divorced in 2013, due in part to her father’s alcoholism.  He became sober in 2013, which was a source of great pride for Alaina.

“My dad’s the best. I’m really proud of my daddy … Our relationship was a little rocky before he went into rehab and now we talk every single day. And he is my daddy and I’m so proud of him,” Alaina previously said.

Alaina also released “The Other Side” in 2019, which she wrote after her stepfather, Sam Ramker, passed away.

In 2021, Suddeth joined his talented daughter at the Grand Ole Opry, where she performed for Salute the Troops.

“God has blessed me with more than I can comprehend, but one of the biggest blessings he gave me was being my brother’s little sissy and my daddy’s little girl,” Alaina captioned the photos of the monumental occasion.
