Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Mandy Barnett + More Celebrate Christmas At the Opry

Opry Country Christmas is almost here! The annual holiday celebration, held at the Grand Ole Opry, kicks off on November 27, featuring performances by Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Mandy Barnett and more.

Alaina, who became a Grand Ole Opry member earlier this year, will perform for Opry Country Christmas on December 1, the perfect way for her to kick off the Christmas season.

“The Opry’s my favorite place in the whole wide world, and Christmas is my favorite time of year,” Alaina tells Everything Nash. “So it marries my two favorite things, just because of the deep-rooted tradition with the Opry and with Christmas and what Christmas means to me, and what the Opry means to me, It means family to me, both of them, and being with family and celebrating life. They bear very well together for me. So I’m very excited and hopefully, I can get some family members to come and be a part of it.

“My family goes to Opryland every year,” she continues. “I take my nephews every year to see the lights. So the Opry has already been a tradition of Christmas for us for the last few years. And now just to perform is the icing on the cake.”

McCreery will sing on December 4, shortly after he resumes performing following the birth of his son, Merrick Avery, on October 24.

“The Opry, country music and Christmastime, What’s not to love?” McCreery reflects to Everything Nash. “It’s just my favorite season. It’s my favorite kind of music. I sing Christmas music all year long, so to get to do it at the Grand Ole Opry, and have a packed house there at the Opry House, I’m gonna be in hog heaven. I love it.  I can’t wait for that.”

Barnett, who became a Grand Ole Opry member in 2021, will be a regular performer for the Opry Country Christmas shows. The singer, who performed at the Grand Ole Opry more than 500 times before she became a member, has made no secret of her love of performing on the sacred stage, but says there is something special about being part of the Opry Country Christmas celebration.

“It’s different,” Barnett acknowledges. “A regular Opry show, they’re gonna hear a mix of things. They may hear a carol that they grew up singing in church and then they may hear a full-tilt performance of an Elvis Christmas song, or ‘Holly Jolly Christmas,’ or something like that. So it’ll be a mix of tunes.”

Other artists performing as part of Opry Country Christmas include Steve Wariner, Rhonda Vincent, Jeannie Seely, Chris Janson, Josh Turner, Chris Young, Charlie McCoy, Ricky Skaggs and more. Tickets are available at Opry.com.
