Lee Brice Speaks Out On The Loss Of Kyle Jacobs: ‘I Love You, Brother’

Lee Brice is speaking out about the loss of Kyle Jacobs, his good friend and frequent collaborator. The husband of Kellie Pickler, Jacobs was one of the producers on Brice’s recent Hey World album, which was just celebrated for earning platinum status.

“These past few days have truly been some of the hardest of my life,” Brice says in a statement. “At times, I feel lost and buried under this deep sadness. Other times, I sit and remember all the times with Kyle that bring me comfort and make me smile. He was, without a doubt, one of the best people anyone could ever hope to have in their corner…I am eternally grateful for having him in mine. I’ll keep Kellie, his family and everyone who was touched by him close to my heart. I’ll miss you til we meet again..I love you, brother.”

In addition to his work as a producer, Jacobs was also an acclaimed songwriter as well, penning songs like Garth Brooks‘ “More Than A Memory,” “Still” by Tim McGraw, Brice’s “Rumor” and more.

Other artists spoke out about the sudden loss of Jacobs, including Russell Dickerson, who is also feeling the loss of his good friend.

“The world is going to miss you Kyle,” Dickerson said. “The world is gonna miss the songs not yet written, we’re gonna miss the fires, the freestyle songs, the wine and dinners… we’re going to miss you down here bro, big time. Jesus be near to Kellie and the rest of the family.”

The Bluebird Cafe, known for celebrating songwriters, posted a touching tribute to Jacobs.

Paula Abdul, one of the judges when Pickler competed on American Idol in Season 5, also expressed her sorrow over Jacobs’ passing.

“My heart is broken for you, Kellie Pickler,” Abdul writes. “I’m sending you comfort and strength during this unimaginable time. I love you and am here for you.”

Jacobs was found deceased in his home on Friday, February 17. His cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Funeral services have yet to be announced.
