Chris Tomlin just dropped a new track, “Thank You Lord,” which includes both Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett. The song is from the upcoming new album, Chris Tomlin & Friends, which also includes collaborations with Lady A, Russell Dickerson, Brett Young and more.
Florida Georgia Line praised the collaboration on social media, along with a clip of the new song.
“Feeling extra thankful to be on the song with our buddies [Chris Tomlin] and [Thomas Rhett],” they posted. “Thank you Lord.”
Chris previously spoke about the unique new project, which he hopes will help blur the lines of specific genres.
“For me, this record is a step towards breaking down the walls of the Christian genre and allowing the music to be accessible to a wider audience,” Chris acknowledged. “That’s my understanding of the Gospel. Music about faith, God, salvation and forgiveness doesn’t only have to come from the Christian genre.”
The Christian singer previously released “Who You Are to Me,” which was co-written with Lady A, who also sing on the track with Chris.
“This song is about the realization that all the crazy stories in the scripture that you heard growing up, like David and Goliath, are real and that when you are in a place far from God, He comes in and meets you right where you are, and pulls you out of the deep,” Chris explained. “This song really shows the power of being real and honest, and because it comes from a real place, I think people are going to connect with it.”
“When we got together to write we just shared who God was for us and how he is working from the inside out in our lives,” added Dave Haywood, who produced the track, and co-wrote it with his Chris, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott. “We poured all of that into this song and we are grateful to be included in this project.”
Chris Tomlin & Friends will be released digitally on July 31, with the physical release date set for August 28.
