Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker Announce Joint Grand Ole Opry Performance

Luke Bryan and Darius Rucker have just been announced as performers together on the Grand Ole Opry. The two singers will take the stage on Saturday, August 15, for the Opry’s 4937th consecutive Saturday night show, albeit still without a live audience due to COVID-19.

The Grand Ole Opry announced earlier this month that they would resume ticket sales for both the August 22 and 29 shows, as well as all shows beginning in September, subject to the latest health guidelines from the CDC.

Darius has already performed to an empty Opry, and while he is always grateful to perform on the hallowed stage, some of his favorite Grand Ole Opry moments take place when hardly anyone is watching.

“It’s such a great hang with everybody back there,” Darius previously said, speaking of being backstage. “Whether people are playing music or practicing or getting their song together with the band – it’s just a whole bunch of music back there, and it’s pretty awesome.”

Luke’s performance will take place one week after the release of his upcoming Born Here, Live Here, Die Here album. The record, which will be released on August 7, was delayed from its original release date of April 24, while his Proud To Be Right Here Tour was postponed until 2021.

“What an incredibly confusing and scary time our world is facing right now, and it is important we continue to follow the guidelines we have been given and do our part to keep everyone safe,” Luke said in a statement.

“With that in mind, we are choosing to stay home at this time so we can have fun sharing this music and tour with you this summer,” he continued. “I truly believe that music can provide all forms of emotional connections for everyone and I can’t wait to get on the road and share these new songs with you soon.”

Born Here, Live Here, Die Here is available for pre-order via Amazon or Luke’s website.

Chrissy Metz, Tracy Lawrence and CeCe Winans performed on Saturday, July 25. Vince Gill, who performed earlier in July with Reba McEntire, will perform this Saturday, August 1, with both Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris.
