Luke Bryan‘s “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” video is out! The song, written by Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jordan Minton and Jacob Rice, is from Bryan’s forthcoming new album.
Although Bryan didn’t write it, he thought of Caroline, his wife of 17 years, as soon as he heard it.
“The song just felt right. It felt good, and it felt that way from the first listen I heard it,” Bryan said at a recen tmedia event. “It just felt like it had all the elements of a big hit song. And then you got to go in and record it, and the rest is history, and here we are, staring down the barrel of the next single.”
Still, the country music hitmaker wasn’t sure when he first heard it if it was going onto his next record or not, but he did know right away that he liked the feel-good tune.
“I’m not thinking about this when I’m ingesting the song,” Bryan explained. “I’m just loving it for what it is. And then we go to record it, and everybody’s like, ‘Oh my God, this kind of sounds like vintage, throwback, Luke stuff.’ I don’t realize that, but then it kind of does.
“I think that the title, ‘Love You, Miss You, Mean It’ is so identifiable,” he continued. “And then the story with people. How many people have had the high school sweetheart that they broke up with and wound up living the story of getting back together? I think the song just spoke to me on all those levels.”
Bryan also just released “Mind Of A Country Boy,” a song he wrote with Ben Hayslip, Dallas Davidson, and Rhett Atkins, a songwriting trio known as The Peach Pickers.
“Every time I get in a room with The Peach Pickers we have so much fun because we have so much in common,” Bryan says. “This song not only shows what can run through my mind but also what most us country boys think about on any given day. The girl we love, outdoors, life and not getting above our raising.”
The Georgia native celebrated an impressive 30 No. 1 singles last year, part of a superstar career that also includes sold-out tours, platinum albums, and serving as a judge on American Idol. But in spite of his numerous successes, Bryan is more determined than ever that he has more to do in country music.
“I’m grounded more than ever in what I need to say as an artist, certainly for the rest of my career,” Bryan recently told CMT. . “I really feel blessed that I can still, after all this time, have a tangible role as being somebody high up in the business. At the end of the day … when I’m on stage, I love every second of it. I still love connecting with the fans, and I still love hearing great songs.”
