Luke Combs‘ new album is out now. The singer-songwriter, who is a proud dad of Tex, who turns two later on June 19, and Beau, who was born last August, is embracing being a dad in all aspects of life, including his music. Combs just released Fathers & Sons, 12 songs that were inspired by his role in the lives of his two young children.
Included on Fathers & Sons is “The Man He Sees in Me,” which is the first song he released from the project.
“‘The Man He Sees In Me’ is exactly that,” Combs tells his record label. “I want to try to be the man that I want my son to become. I want his dad to be his hero in his eyes, and I want to be that.”
Combs shared performance videos of several of the songs on Father & Sons, including “Remember Him That Way.” The 34-year-old is enjoying his reign as one of the biggest superstars in country music right now, but he makes it clear that, even with his current Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour, his first priority is being with his young children.

“I’m lucky to get to spend three or four days a week at home with the kids,” Combs tells Taste of Country. “We play two nights a week, so the rest of the days I’m home with them. That’s what I’m doing. I go out and play some shows and come home and make breakfast and lunches and naps and diapers.”
Combs, who shares his two sons with his wife, Nicole, admits he was pleasantly surprised by how much he liked being a dad.
“I think the thing that blew me away is, there’s a whole new level of love that is unlocked with a child,” Combs told SiriusXM’s The Highway. “It’s different from the love you have for your wife. It’s a different kind of love. As a dad, you don’t have that instant bond with a child, like the mother does. That’s a chemical thing that happens.
“It takes getting through those first couple of months, [which] are difficult for dads, way more difficult for mom,” he added. “You feel helpless, like, ‘How can I help? How can I do anything?’ As your child starts to smile, laugh, and recognize you when you come in the room, it’s like, it just all unveils itself.”
Combs currently has a Top 20 single with “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song is part of a star-studded soundtrack from the upcoming Twisters film, which also includes music by Jelly Roll with Alexandra Kay, Kane Brown, Shania Twain, Thomas Rhett, Megan Moroney and more. Both the film and the soundtrack will be out on July 19.
