Luke Combs Refunds Tickets Ahead of Maine Performance

The show must go on for Luke Combs, even if he isn’t making any money from it. The 32-year-old announced at the beginning of his weekend show at Maine Savings Amphitheater, in Bangor, Maine, that he was refunding everyone’s tickets, even though he was still going to perform.

“I have to let you know that I have refunded all of your tickets. As of 7:00 PM today, a few hours ago, I realized that I was not going to be able to sing as good as I normally do,” Combs shared from stage (via People).

“[My voice is not] what I think it should be for you guys having to pay for it,” he continued. “So, we’re going to put on the best free show we could put on, and I want you guys to know how upset I am to have to tell you that tonight, but all I want you to know is that we’re going to do the very damn best … I am so, so sorry.”

Combs is currently on his The Middle of Somewhere Tour, where he has vowed to keep ticket prices affordable, even amid skyrocketing gas prices.

“It’s going to cost me a lot, but all I wanted to do is make a living doing music,” the new father told Billboard. “And I make enough money to not have to worry about anything and be really comfortable, so I don’t ever want to get greedy. It’s more competitive out there than it’s ever been, so it’s two-fold for me: I get to go, ‘Hey fans, I love you. I’m not going to gouge you,’ and it’s about a full room, it’s not about making money. I didn’t get into it to be Jeff Bezos and be the richest guy in the world.”

Combs’ latest album, Growin’ Up, was released in June. The 12-track record includes the duet, “Outrunnin’ Your Memory” with  Miranda Lambert. The two also penned the song together.

“I don’t want anybody to feel pressured when I ask them [to duet],” Combs tells Taste of Country Nights. “I don’t want them to feel like, ‘Oh man, I feel like I’ve got to this because they asked,’ kind of thing. When we wrote that day, it wasn’t like, ‘Hey, let’s write a duet’ or ‘Let’s write a song for your album, or your album.’ It was just like, ‘Let’s write a good song.’”

Combs’ The Middle of Somewhere Tour continues through the remainder of 2022. Find music and tour dates at LukeCombs.com.
