Luke Combs Sets New Milestone, Teases New Song About Fatherhood [LISTEN]

It’s a big week for Luke Combs. The North Carolina native set a new attendance record, while on his Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour, following up the big announcement by teasing a brand-new song about parenting.

Combs performed at University Park, Pennsylvania, in front of a massive crowd, sharing photos of the milestone on social media.

“Biggest show I’ve played in my life – over 80k people,” Combs writes. “Unbelievable. Thank you, State College, for a show we’ll never forget.”

Later, the father of two shared a clip of an unreleased new song, “Huntin’ By Yourself,” unquestionably inspired by his sons, Tex, who will turn two in June, and Beau, who was born in August.

“This song is about doing things you love with your kids, but knowing they’ll grow up one day, and then you’ll realize it’s never about what you’re doing but who you do it with,” Combs captioned the audio clip.

Combs might be a country music superstar, but his favorite job is being a parent, a role he shares with his wife, Nicole, although he admits he was pleasantly surprised by some aspects of the role.

“I think the thing that blew me away is, there’s a whole new level of love that is unlocked with a child,” Combs told SiriusXM’s The Highway. “It’s different from the love you have for your wife. It’s a different kind of love. As a dad, you don’t have that instant bond with a child, like the mother does. That’s a chemical thing that happens.

“It takes getting through those first couple of months, [which] are difficult for dads, way more difficult for mom,” he added. “You feel helpless, like, ‘How can I help? How can I do anything?’  As your child starts to smile, laugh, and recognize you when you come in the room, it’s like, it just all unveils itself.”

Combs will come off the road later this month for the 2024 ACM Awards. The “Fast Car” singer leads the list of nominees with eight nominations, including for the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

The ACM Awards will air live on Thursday, May 16, from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The ceremony will stream live exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Tickets for the general public are available now, via SeatGeek. More information is available at ACMCountry.com.
