Maren Morris expected to be out on the road right now, on her RSVP the Tour, bringing her infant son, Hayes, along with her. Instead, the 30-year-old is enjoying time with her family in their Nashville home, because of the coronavirus pandemic. While she misses being on stage and with her fans, Maren admits she is enjoying the unexpected time at home with her baby and husband, Ryan Hurd.
“The best part about being home right now is getting to spend so much time with my husband and my baby,’ Maren shared with her record label. “If I had been on tour, I would have had my kid out with me, but then Ryan would be out on tour as well. It just wouldn’t have been this really condensed family time that we are getting right now. So, that’s probably the best part. And, I’m also off the road, I’m the laziest person. I just watch constant Netflix and Bravo and do nothing with my life except Postmates food. I’ve loved doing that in my free time. The worst part is definitely not being able to see my band, my crew.”
Maren was eager to headline her RSVP the Tour, which was going to take her to even bigger arenas and amphitheaters, after selling out her Girl: The World Tour last year.
“We were so excited to get on the road this year,” Maren said. “We had such an amazing production planned and set list; everything was sussed out, and then it kind of got the rug taken out from underneath it. And then, seeing my fans, you know, it sucks that our industry, touring-wise, is probably going to be that last one to open because our entire thing is about crowds and so how do we do that safely?
“We’ll probably have to wait the longest out of any sector,” she added. “So, I’m just trying to be patient and enjoy this time at home that I don’t get normally. Write songs to pass the time, and start working on my third record. We’ll get back on the road when it is safe and get to appreciate it more.”
Maren previously admitted that, in hindsight, she wouldn’t have been ready to hit the road so soon after giving birth.
“I was supposed to go back and play a festival, I think two months after Hayes was born,” Maren told SiriusXM’s Storme Warren. “It got cancelled and the rest of the tour got rescheduled for next year. I remember when that weekend came up that we were supposed to be gone on the road, I was like ‘Oh my God, I am in no way ready to be doing that right now.’ So it is sort of like this gift of time and being able to be home and see every single moment that he has because they grow up so quickly and we’ll never get this first year back…. We get to witness every little milestone that Hayes has so that has been really special.”
