Michael Bublé is heading to the Grand Ole Opry! The pop superstar will join Carly Pearce on December 15 to perform their current duet, “Maybe This Christmas,” as part of the annual Opry Country Christmas series.
Bublé and Pearce met on the current Season 26 of The Voice, where Bublé is serving as a coach this season, along with Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg. Pearce served as a Playoff Mentor on Buble’s team, which is when they decided to collaborate on the holiday song.
“Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them,” Pearce said on social media, ahead of the song’s release. “This collab fell into place so seamlessly it feels like fate had a hand in it. We’re so proud of this song! We hope you love it as much as we do.”
Bublé has released plenty of Christmas songs over his career, which has spanned more than two decades, but admits there is something special about his collaboration with Pearce.
“Some songs are just fun,” Bublé says on iHeart’s Behind the Christmas Hits with Drew Savage. “Some songs are just fun, and fun to dance to, and they’re bubblegum. And then there are other songs where they just come from a really deep place, and you’re earnest. It’s funny, I realized there’s no way for people to articulate it, but when you write something, and it comes from a very honest place, from the heart, many times people, they don’t know why and they don’t know how to begin to articulate it, but it just is.
“There is a feeling that they get, and it moves them, and it touches them,” he continues. “You could have AI write the greatest song in the world. There are songs that I have written, and they are technically spectacular, and I know they are. I know that they’ve been crafted perfectly. Because I didn’t feel them emotionally, with that sense of honesty, they didn’t work as well as I thought they would.”
When “Maybe This Christmas” was released, Bublé shared his wife Luisana Lopilato’s emotional reaction to the song.

“I poured my heart into this song and it’s always a vulnerable place to share new music,” he wrote. “Seeing Lu so emotional erased all my doubt. I wrote this song for those who find the holidays a hard time.. a lonely time. Music has a way of healing and this one means a lot.”
Pearce was thrilled to collaborate with Bublé, especially on a song like “Maybe This Christmas.”
“I love him, and obviously he rules Christmas,” Pearce tells Billboard. “He just asked me to be a part of his song. The song is so special, because it talks about maybe the not so pretty parts of Christmas for a lot of people, who experienced grief or heartache or loss.”
