Michael Ray‘s fans are of all ages, including young ones! The Florida native just performed his No. 1 hit, “Whiskey and Rain,” at the Grand Ole Opry, where he was joined by a young fan named Jillian. Ray shared a portion of their performance on social media.
“I’ve had so many incredible moments on the [Opry], but this one will go down as one of the most memorable!!!” Ray wrote. “Let’s just say #whiskeyandrain has never sounded better am I right??? Hope to see you there again soon Jillian!!!”

Ray also shared how important performing at the Grand Ole Opry is to him, and why it remains his favorite stage to perform on, time and time again.
“Thank y’all for letting us make a honkytonk outta your living rooms last night on the Grand Ole Opry,” Ray posted after his performance, along with a few photos. “Never gets old reading all the comments from y’all who listen on WSM Radio like I used to with my Grandpa Amos. When I think back to being a kid loving Country music and all those songs I heard my heroes sing from the Circle, it reminds me how grateful I am for my own journey from Eustis to Nashville, for the journey we’ve been on together since then with songs like #whiskeyandrain and for the journeys we all walk that nobody knows about. It’s been one hell of a January!!! I mean it when I say we ain’t slowing down!!!”

Ray has accomplished so much in his career so far, but for him, his biggest dream is to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry himself someday.
“The Opry, there’s no place like it,” Ray tells Everything Nash. “I grew up watching it with my grandfather, studying it. My biggest goal in my career is to be an Opry member, and to be a part of that family that continues the tradition of country music. I know things have to evolve and grow with time, but I think that there is a foundation of the Opry that I think needs to stay and really should be held very preciously. Because, in a lot of ways, that’s the only way that some artists that paved the way for us have a stage.”
“Whiskey and Rain” became Ray’s fourth No.1 hit. The success of the song, Ray says, is because of his loyal fans, who supported the song since it was released.
“I owe this one to the fans who love country music just as much as I do,” Ray said after the song landed at the top of the charts. “I knew when I first heard this song, it embodied everything I love about country music, and I hoped people would find it as relatable and personal as I do.
“Whiskey and Rain” is from Ray’s latest Higher Education EP. Find all of his music and tour dates here.
