Miranda Lambert Announces New ‘Postcards From Texas’ Album

Miranda Lambert has a new album coming out, her first since leaving her longtime label, Sony Music Nashville, in 2023. The singer-songwriter announces the release of Postcards from Texas, a 14-song project that marks her first release on Republic Records.

Postcards from Texas includes her Top 40 single, “Wranglers,” plus the already-released “Dammit Randy,” which features her husband, Brendan McLoughlin as a songwriter, and a new song, “Alimony,” out today.

Lambert was with her frequent collaborators, Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby, when they struck unlikely inspiration for “Alimony.”

“We were out in my barn; I was showing Shane and Natalie the horses, and I asked if he had any other titles,” Lambert remembers of how the feisty new track began. “He said he had one, and I was like, ‘What is it? Because your last one was ‘Looking Back on Luckenbach,’ which I didn’t think you could top.’ He said, ‘Well, ‘If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone, remember the Alamo-neeeee…’’ Natalie and I were like, ‘Alright, Shane! Stop showing off.’

“We went back to the house and got the guitars,” she continues, “and I specifically was like, ‘I want a shuffle, man.’ I love to shuffle so much, and this record needed a shuffle! I knew I wanted one in my set, because I haven’t done one in a while – and everybody loves a shuffle.”

Once the three started writing “Alimony,” it didn’t take long for them to realize that they had struck creative gold.

“And once we had the line, ‘If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone, remember the alimony,’ we were off,” Lambert shares. “We used every Texas metaphor we could come up with on purpose; we wanted to take something kind of [bad] and put some humor back in it. I mean, the guy gets out pretty easy if all he does is move back in with his mom.”

Lambert’s debut album, Kerosene, came out in 2005, but she’s never been more excited to release new music than she is at this point in her career.

“Music is and always will be the thing that drives me, but having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me,” the 40-year-old said when “Wranglers” was released. “This song feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music.”
