Miranda Lambert and Carly Pearce with Lee Brice are among early CMA Awards winners! Miranda won the CMA Award for Music Video of the Year, for “Bluebird,” while Carly and Lee took home the CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year, for “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”
In addition to the early CMA Awards winners, more performance details were also announced for tonight’s live awards show. CMA Awards hosts Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker will perform “In the Ghetto,” in tribute to the late Mac Davis, who passed away in September.
The tribute to Mac Davis is one of several musical performances taking place to honor country music legends who passed away this year. Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Jenee Fleenor and Ashley McBryde will kick off the show with a medley of hits to honor Charlie Daniels, while Kenny Rogers will be honored with a musical tribute by Little Big Town, and Jon Pardi will honor Joe Diffie.
Kelsea Ballerini has also been added to the performance lineup, to sing “Hole in the Bottle.” She joins a lengthy list of previously-announced performers that includes Luke Combs, Lady A, Rascal Flatts, Gabby Barrett featuring Charlie Puth, Eric Church, Miranda, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett with Reba, Hillary Scott and Chris Tomlin, Jimmie Allen, Ingrid Andress, Dan + Shay with Justin Bieber, Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, and Chris Stapleton.
Miranda led the pack of nominees with seven nods heading into the awards ceremony. Her numerous nominations include a nod for Entertainer of the Year, a category she shares with Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Eric Church and Luke Combs. The 2020 CMA Awards will air tonight at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
