Miranda Lambert Drops ‘Wranglers’: ‘I Am So Proud to Sing This Song’ [LISTEN]

Miranda Lambert has a new song out, her first on a brand-new label. The singer-songwriter just dropped “Wranglers,” the debut single from her new project on Republic Records, after leaving her longtime label, Sony Music Nashville, last year.

“‘Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back,” Lambert says of the song, written by Audra Mae, Evan McKeever and Ryan Carpenter. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I think the songwriters nailed it.”

Lambert has written plenty of her own hits over the years, including “Bluebird,” “Tin Man,” “Heart Like Mine,” and more. But as soon as Lambert heard “Wranglers,” she knew she wanted it on her next set of tunes, even if she didn’t write it herself.

“I am so proud to sing this song,” Lambert says. “It feels like it could have been on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’ in a lot of ways. ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ is a pretty powerful statement, and the way it’s written, you can tell, we’re not kidding.”

“Wranglers” is, fortunately, part of Lambert’s new record that she can’t wait to share with the world, and a good indication of what fans can expect from her next.

“Country music at its core tells the truth about life, but it makes you feel something,” Lambert explains. “Sometimes you laugh. Sometimes you throw your fist in the air. Sometimes that fist goes through the wall. All I know is I’ve got a lot more to say, and a lot more music coming soon.

“So for anyone who’s ever seen themselves in one of my songs, especially the rowdy ones, get ready!” she adds. “We wanted to come with something that really says something from the start. And there’s a whole lot of feelings and rhythms and great playing to come.”

Lambert, whose last album, Palomino, was released in 2022,  is even more excited to share more music with her fans, especially on her new record label.

“Music is and always will be the thing that drives me, but having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me,” the 40-year-old said when announcing the new song. “This song feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music.”

Lambert recently performed “Wranglers,” along with several others, at Stagecoach, where she surprised attendees by bringing out Reba McEntire at the end to sing Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart” and “Gunpowder & Lead,” along with McEntire’s “Fancy” to close out the night.

“Thank you to my hero and friend for coming out here as my special guest,” Lambert wrote on social media after their surprise collaboration.. “I’ll never forget it. She brought the fire.”
