It’s a big week for Morgan Wallen. The East Tennessee native dropped a new song, “Love Somebody,” while also announcing his inaugural Sand In My Boots festival, taking place in Gulf Shores, Ala., May 16-18, 2025.
Wallen, who wrote “Love Somebody” alongside John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv and Ryan Vojtesa, admits that the song is a bit different than the music he usually releases.
“’Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” Wallen concedes. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about, how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”
Wallen announced the news of his first Sand In My Boots festival, in a video he shared on social media.
“Me and my team have been working on this for a while for y’all,” Wallen says. “We’re gonna be heading south to the beaches, and I’m bringing some of my friends with me. Mark your calendars for May 16 – 18, 2025 for the Sand In My Boots Festival. It’s gonna be in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Stay tuned and we’ll get you some more info.”
Wallen’s Sand In My Boots will take place at the Hangout Festival site in Alabama, with Wallen hand-picking each performer. Per a press release, the three-day event will feature a “highly curated multi-genre lineup with some of Wallen’s closest friends, favorite artists, those who have inspired him, and that he has always wanted to perform with. Every artist, activity, and experience will be handpicked by Wallen, driven by his excitement to share great music and create memories with fans, friends, family, and peers.”

The 31-year-old recently made history, when he performed two shows at the University of Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. Amassing 156,161 fans total in attendance from both nights, the two shows surpassed the record The Jackson 5 set in 1984, with 148,407.
“When me and the boys first started playing shows, we started out playing bars, real small venues. Worked our way up to places like Cotton Eyed Joe,” Wallen said during the second evening’s concert. “Then we worked our way up to clubs, theaters, arenas and amphitheaters – we pretty much played any kind of venue there is, and all of a sudden you guys went and sold out Neyland today. Thank you.”
Wallen currently has a Top 5 hit with “Lies Lies Lies,” a song that, along with “Love Somebody,” is likely from a new album. The singer-songwriter will wrap up his massive One Night At A Time Tour this weekend, with two shows at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on October 18 and 19.
