Morgan Wallen Is Staying Out of Bars: ‘It’s Definitely the Best Thing for Me’

Morgan Wallen‘s days of going out to bars might be a thing of the past. The 31-year-old reveals that he has not been in a bar in over a year, since he was arrested after throwing a chair from the sixth-story rooftop of Eric Church’s Chief’s bar in April of 2024.

“It’s definitely the best thing for me,” Wallen admits on the This Past Weekend podcast (via People). “I mean, if you’re using a bar as a specific example, that’s definitely, that’s definitely, the best thing for me. I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about.”

At the time, Wallen was charged with three reckless endangerment charges and one disorderly conduct charge, since the chair fell precariously close to two police officers standing on the street. Wallen’s mugshot quickly made headlines.

“The most public time I was in a bar? That’s the last time I was in a bar,” he says.

While Wallen takes full responsibility for his actions, he admits that his level of fame poses its own set of challenges.

“It’s still weird, and there’s parts of that, that I don’t like,” Wallen admits. “I think anybody who has to deal with that… it’s not ideal.”

“It’s not ideal to go everywhere,” he adds. “And even if you don’t get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might. There’s things that you just don’t do. There’s just things you don’t do anymore.”

One thing Wallen can do is hunt, which he enjoys doing with his close friends.

“I can go be with my buddies,” Wallen says. “I can be in the middle of nowhere. I can be at ease. I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think.”

In December, Wallen pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.

“The plea agreement with the Office of the District Attorney requires Mr. Wallen to spend seven days at a DUI Education Center, be on probation for two years — one year for each of the misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment— pay a $350 fine and court fees,” Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, IV, announced (via CNN). “Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement.

“Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved,” he continued. “Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”

Wallen has a Top 5 hit with “I’m The Problem.” The song is the title track of his forthcoming new album, out on May 16.

“I have been a problem, for sure, and I’ve got no problem admitting that,” Wallen says. “But there are other sides to me as well. I’ve spent the last 11 months really trying to figure out, ‘Do I still want to be the problem? Is it time to move past that phase in my life?’ I think it probably is, and this might be the last time I get a chance to honestly say it.”
