Fans of Nashville’s beloved Douglas Corner Cafe can at least have a momento of the iconic music venue. The owner, Mervin Loque, announced on social media that he is hosting a yard sale this weekend, where he will sell much of the venue’s items. The yard sale will be held inside, with safety precautions in place due to COVID-19.
“Hello Facebook friends. I wish I had better news, but as much as we wanted to find a way to keep Douglas Corner open, it just wasn’t meant to be,” Mervin shared. “We will be having an indoor yard sale this Saturday and Sunday at Douglas from 9 am until 2 pm. We will be using all of the precautions that have been prescribed during the sale, including rubber gloves. We will have pictures tomorrow of some of the stuff we will be selling.
“We have 33 years of belongings that we hope some of our friends might want to take home,” he continued. “Again, we want to thank everyone for your love and support for Douglas Corner for the past 33 years.”

Mervin announced last month that, after initially closing due to COVID-19, he decided not to reopen Douglas Corner Cafe.
“This has been a hard decision, and a lot of prayer has gone into it. I came off the road many years ago from doing engineering, and was fortunate enough to open this club,” Mervin announced.
“I’m not sure where I’m going next,” he continued. “Of course, we’ve had many writers in the rounds, and songwriters who came through here. Many started their careers here, a lot of artists started their careers here, and so I’m very proud of the legacy this place is leaving –– I’m leaving here, I guess I should say. I’m not sure where I’m going next, but I will be around. I’m not leaving Nashville.”
Douglas Corner Cafe has hosted plenty of then-aspiring singers who went on to become superstars, including Trisha Yearwood, John Berry, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and more. The Douglas Corner Cafe yard sale will be held on June 13 and 14. Douglas Corner Cafe is located at 2106 8th Ave South in Nashville.
