There is hope that Nashville’s popular Indian restaurant, Shalimar Fine Indian Cuisine, might reopen. The restaurant initially announced on social media that they were closing, after being forced to shut their doors because of coronavirus, along with concerns about their location. Since then, fans of the popular Green Hills eatery vowed to do anything they could to keep Shalimar open, which resulted in a GoFundMe account to raise money for the owners.
“Due to the outpouring of love and support from the community, we’ve decided to start this GofundMe aimed at re-opening the restaurant,” a statement reads on Facebook. “We’ve received tons of messages asking us to stay open, and stories from friends who were impacted by our cuisine and customer service. Many of these messages insisted that we start a GofundMe to try and re-open. We believe that as a small business, we can still survive if the community loves and supports us, and that has been reflected in Nashville’s reaction to hearing that we are closing.
“The owner does not have a retirement plan and has been diagnosed with an early form of Parkinson’s,” they continued. “But his spirit is lifted and sustained by the love customers have shown him. He’s committed to re-open in Green Hills if conditions allow. Please contribute what you can, and share this campaign as much as possible.”

A new post reveals that the owners are also looking for a new location, one that would be more accessible and not by a dangerous intersection.
“Hope to see everyone again soon!” the owners shared. “We had some news organizations ask us about our restaurant but unfortunately weren’t able to come out and interview us. Please spread the word about our GoFundMe if you haven’t done so already. Also, if you see any potential spaces in Green Hills please let us know! We are trying as hard as we can to find a path to re-opening!”
