Hit songwriters Nicolle Galyon and Lori McKenna teamed up to write “All the Things,” a song written for blogger and Instagram influencer Landyn Hutchinson’s brand-new podcast, Living With Landyn, which officially launched on Monday, May 11. Nicolle, who has co-written some of the biggest hits in country music, including Dan + Shay’s “Tequila,” Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic” and more, had the idea for the song long before Landyn knew she needed one.
“She was just complimenting my, my growth, as girlfriends would,” Landyn told Everything Nash. “Just kind of in conversation, she said, ‘You know, you’re going to need a theme song. I just feel it. I don’t know what it’s for, but one day I’ll write it for you.’ I was like [laughing], ‘OK, fun. Great. All right. When I need a theme song, you write it.’ And now here we are.”
Nicolle is one of the most respected songwriters in Nashville, which is why she had no problem reaching out to Lori, whose numerous cuts include Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty,” Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind,” along with many, many more.
“As an artist and as a writer, I think what’s really cool about the writing community is that we’re all really level with each other and we all really trust each other,” Nicolle acknowledged. “And to be honest, I was calling Lori as a friend, not as a business partner trying to make some big moves when we wrote this song.
“It was just really fun,” she added. “I was just like, ‘Hey Lori, do you want to come over and drink some wine? And you love Landyn? I love Landyn. Let’s just see what we can make.'”
Landyn, who has more than 246,000 followers on Instagram, a website, store and now also a podcast, was thrilled with the way Nicolle captured her exact sentiments in “All the Things.”
“I teared up for sure,” Landyn admitted, speaking about listening to the song for the first time. “It just embodied everything that I believe in, and it just spoke so much to me and the women that follow me. The words were perfect. Life’s a mess; it’s not perfect and we’re going to figure it out. We’re doing the best you can. It’s just me. It’s so me. It was truly perfect.”
Landyn started out blogging as a way to share some of her design and food ideas, never imagining it would so quickly grow into the thriving business she now heads up.
“It kind of happened on accident,” Landyn admitted. “I say that just because I’ve always done the things that I’m doing. I just ended up putting it out there for the world to see and just being that resource for women. It’s really interesting, the legs that it got and how it just took off running. I think it was just like one thing led to another thing. The opportunities were coming and the women were there and I felt a duty to them in some way to create these experiences, whether it be my live show or having a storefront for them to come into.
“They’d been asking me for years where to get this, where to get that,” she continued. “And I thought, ‘Well, let me just have a store that has all of those things that you want.’ So between that, and then the podcast is going to be a new outlet, to just have honest conversations with, with them, the good, bad and the ugly. And then of course the website’s a place for it to all live. It’s been wild really.”
