Old Dominion is speaking out about the loss of Toby Keith. The reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year shared a touching tribute to Keith on social media.
“Toby Keith was a true trail blazer,” the band said. “Authentic and heartfelt but always with a wink ‘til the end. He was larger than life in so many ways and his music will live on forever! Raising our red solos tonight—you will be missed by so many. Peace.”

Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021, sharing the news in June of 2022.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith said at the time. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
Keith planned on touring in 2024, while continuing to receive treatment for his cancer. He openly said he relied on his faith while fighting the deadly disease.
“I lean on my faith and I just pray and lean into it,” Keith recently told Fox News. “You gotta’ do what you gotta’ do, and I don’t know how people do it without faith … that’s what I did. It was my rock.”
When receiving the People’s Choice Country Icon Award, Keith admitted he had some challenging days, but it was his faith that sustained him.
“I’ve always rode with a prayer,” Keith told Extra. “As long as I have Him with me, I’m cool. You just have to dig in. You don’t have a choice.”
“I walked some dark hallways,” he continued. “Almighty’s riding shotgun. But I feel pretty good. You have good days and bad days, but it’s a little bit of a roller coaster. But I’m doing a lot better than I was this time last year.”
Funeral services have yet to be announced. Keith’s latest album, 100% Songwriter, was out in November. All of his music can be found at TobyKeith.com
