Old Dominion to Receive 2024 Angels Among Us Award by St. Jude

Old Dominion will soon have a new award, but this one isn’t for their music. The five-man band is the latest recipient of the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award, given in recognition of their unwavering commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and their ongoing efforts to support the work of St. Jude.

Old Dominion will receive the honor at this year’s Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Seminar, taking place October 21 and 22 in Memphis, Tennessee.

“It’s truly humbling to be awarded the Angels Among Us honor by St. Jude,” Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey says. “The patients and families of St. Jude inspire us deeply. By uniting with fellow artists and Country radio fans, we want to help make sure that no family receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food so they can focus on helping their child live. Supporting such a remarkable mission is a privilege, and we are thankful to be part of it.”

Country Cares was created by Alabama‘s Randy Owen in 1989 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, which provides completely free medical care to children battling cancer and other serious illnesses, along with free housing and meals for the families. To date, Country Cares has raised more than $800 million to support the work of St. Jude.

Old Dominion will perform at the annual Angels Among Us dinner, along with Owen and Megan Moroney, who joins Old Dominion on their 2023 hit single, “Can’t Break Up Now.” Owen will also perform. Jon Pardi will kick off the two-day event with a performance at Graceland.

The reigning ACM Vocal Group of the Year just released a new single, “Coming Home,” from a forthcoming new album

“I think everyone at some point suffers from that separation desperation,” Ramsey says. “You’re living your life; you know what you’re doing is totally worth it. But then when you turn the truck, car, bus or airplane home, there’s this energy that sweeps over you – and it feels good.”

Old Dominion is also working on their new bar and music venue, Odie’s, set to open at 1919 Division Street later this year.

“We wanted it to be a place where a group of songwriters who might have a band could play, or someone starting out might be able to be part of a writers thing and get heard,” band member Trevor Rosen explains. “You know, pay it forward because all these years later, we know it works. That’s much better than just a temple to who we think we are.”

Previous recipients of the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award include Brothers Osborne, who received the honor last year, plus Florida Georgia Line Lady AJake OwenBrad PaisleyJohn Rich,  Darius RuckerScotty McCreery and more. To find more information, or to make a donation, visit StJude.org.
