Phil Vassar and Jeffrey Steele are lending their time and talents to a worthwhile cause. The two songwriters will perform a virtual event on October 29, benefiting Waves, a Franklin-based nonprofit, which helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their full potential, through both an Early Learning Program and Adult Services Program, offering a wide range of services to both children and adults.
“My buddy Craig Campbell’s daughter has attended the Waves adult day program for many years and loves it,” Phil told Everything Nash. “I love supporting organizations like Waves, especially since we’re not on the road and have time to devote to worthwhile organizations.”
“I can’t thank Phil and Jeffrey enough for donating their time and amazing talent for Waves,” added Craig, owner of Campbell Entertainment Group, a publicity and artist management company. “Our daughter Samantha has attended the Waves Adult Day Program for almost eight years, and we cannot imagine her life – or ours – without it.”
As part of the virtual fundraiser, both Phil and Jeffrey will perform some of their biggest hits over the years. For the prolific songwriters, narrowing down the list might be the biggest challenge. Phil has penned hits for himself and others, including his own “Just Another Day in Paradise,” Collin Raye’s “Little Red Rodeo,” “For a Little While” by Tim McGraw, and more. Jeffrey’s numerous cuts as a songwriter include Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts the Most,” Keith Urban and Eric Church’s collaborative “Raise ‘Em Up,” Montgomery Gentry’s “Something to Be Proud Of,” among others.
Song requests will be taken upon ticket purchase. Viewers will also have the ability to tip throughout the fundraiser, via a text-to-give option. Attendees will also hear stories from several people who have served through Waves, highlighting the numerous services that are available to citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Two ticket levels are available, including a limited number of VIP tickets, which are $125. VIP ticket holders will receive a gift basket the day of the event, providing the address is within a 30-mile radius of downtown Franklin. Those outside that area will be able to pick up their basket at the Waves administration office on October 29 between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. All other tickets are available for $25. An online auction will also begin on Monday, October 26 at 8:00 AM, ending on October 29 at 10:00 PM. Find more information, and purchase tickets, by visiting Waves’ website.
