The coronavirus pandemic might be changing how the Christmas 4 Kids event occurs, but rest assured, plans are already in place to make the annual fundraiser as successful as in former years, and maybe more. The non-profit, which helps provide hundreds of underprivileged children within Middle Tennessee a joyful Christmas, will continue this year as a virtual event, with Phil Vassar headlining an online concert.
A new event, When Pigs Fly, a BBQ dinner and bourbon-tasting event, is also being added this year as well. When Pigs Fly will feature Rockland Road, as well as a few surprise musical guests. When Pigs Fly is taking place thanks to a partnership with Live Love Nashville, the Hendersonville Parks Department and HolidayFest. HolidayFest is a non-profit community service organization, which serves as the umbrella organization to promote, market, and act as the governing body to both set policies and determine approval of the charity and service organizations that are supported.
When Pigs Fly will be catered by the popular Nashville barbecue restaurant, Martin’s BBQ. The dinner will take place on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00 PM, behind the Ultimate Party Super Store, located at 246 West Main Street, Hendersonville, Tennessee. When Pigs Fly is the first in a series of Hendersonville Hometown Jam music events, slated for 2020. The Hometown Jam, started in 2019 by the Hendersonville Parks Department, this year will feature multiple nights that benefit different charities throughout the year.
“Our community has rallied to help us to provide a wonderful Christmas for 400 kids,” said Linda O’Connell, C4K President. “Live Love Nashville, the Parks Department, the Hendersonville Hometown Jam and HolidayFest have joined us to create an unbeatable team that cannot be stopped. We hate that we won’t able to enjoy the children in person, but we will ensure they have a great Christmas.”

Tickets for When Pigs Fly are $50.00 each, with an additional charge of $5.00 for Bourbon Tasting, provided by Lipman Brothers. For $10.00, guests are also able to participate in a rib-eating contest, which is being sponsored by Texas Roadhouse.
In previous years, children were given the opportunity to go on a shopping spree at Walmart. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each child will receive a $150 shopping spree, with volunteers shopping from the child’s personalized wish list. The Christmas gifts will be delivered to the child’s school on December 15.
The Phil Vassar concert will take place on Monday, November 23. Billed as Phil Vassar & Friends, the virtual show will begin at 7:00 PM CT. Online tickets are available for $25 each, and can be purchased at PhilVassar.com. Meet and greet passes are also available for an additional fee.
