Brad Paisley‘s The Store will be able to serve even more people in need thanks to Publix. The supermarket chain has pledged to donate 180 gallons of milk each week to The Store, which delivers groceries to elderly people and those in need in Nashville during the coronavirus pandemic.
“At a time when an estimated 17.1 million additional people will experience food insecurity – Publix saw the opportunity to bridge the gap between the needs of families and farmers impacted,” a Publix spokesperson told Fox 17.
The generous donation is part of Publix’s initiative to support farmers by purchasing produce and dairy directly from those affected by coronavirus, and donate it to food banks. The donations will continue through the grocery chain’s Farmers and Families program, and will go directly more than 500 families that The Store serves in and around Nashville.
Brad and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, opened The Store in conjunction with Belmont University, as a place for those with food insecurity to get groceries for free, without shame or embarrassment. Because of the restrictions in place due to COVID-19, Brad announced in March that they would deliver the groceries to those in need instead.
“So, in light of changing times, [The Store] is mobilizing delivery of a week’s groceries to our elderly neighbors in Edgehill and Berry Hill on Wednesdays/Thursdays. If anyone needs to be included on this list, we urge them to contact [email protected],” Brad shared on social media.
Regardless of how people in need are receiving their groceries, Brad is extremely passionate about the cause.
“This is a grocery store with dignity for people who have fallen on hard times,” Paisley previously told The Tennessean. “All of us are one unforeseen disaster away from rock bottom. It’s nice to think about a place where when that happens to someone, they can use it to get back on their feet.”
