Randy Travis’ Life Is Subject of New ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’ Biopic, Starring Clay Walker

A film about Randy Travis is coming to life. The Country Music Hall of Fame member will be the subject of the biopic, Forever and Ever, Amen, starting from his early years, up until present day. Clay Walker is producing the film, along with Travis’ wife, Mary Travis and veteran producer Eric Groth.

“We’ve been approached many times through the years about doing a movie… but the timing or team has never felt quite as good as it feels right now,” Travis says in a statement. “With Clay on our side, and the creative direction he and the producers have, I feel good about telling my story through this medium.“

“Randy Travis is the voice of a generation and one of the greatest country singers of all time,” adds Walker. “I am truly honored to be a part of this project, and cannot believe I get to play one of my heroes.”

Walker announced the film at the Grand Ole Opry, joined by Travis and Groth.

“We’ve been working on something behind the scenes for about a year and a half,” Walker reveals. “We finally get to talk about it. I gotta tell you, it’s been really tough on me not being able to talk about this … We’re going to be producing the first and most epic Randy Travis biopic — a movie about Randy Travis’ life.”

Walker goes on to explain that there will be three stages of Travis’ life throughout the movie, beginning when Travis was a little boy in North Carolina.

“They’re going to have the young Randy, the kid, and then the 20 to 30-something. And then I’m going to play the 40 to 50. I don’t know why they didn’t pick me for the 20,” Walker jokes. “But this is a dream come true. We’ve been talking about this for a long time. And a lot of times these things never come to fruition. But the good Lord has had his hand in this, and we’re gonna make the best movie about this man’s life.

“There are going to be a lot of key moments from his 66 years on this earth,” he continues. “God is good, y’all. He’s right here by me.”

Walker also reflected on Travis’ impact in country music, revealing that Travis made his Grand Ole Opry debut 39 years ago this week.

“I’m so excited that this is finally going to happen,” Walker says.

Filming will begin this summer, and casting is taking place now. Forever and Ever, Amen, is expected to be released next year. Travis recently released his new single, “Horses in Heaven.” Travis is continuing his More Life Tour in 2025, with guest vocalist James Dupré singing some of Travis’ biggest hits.
