Rascal Flatts dropped another song from their Life Is A Highway: Refueled Duets album. The trio just released “Mayberry,” featuring Blake Shelton. The song was originally released in 2003, from Rascal Flatts’ sophomore Melt record.
“It was so much fun playing with Blake again. He was on our first two tours with us back in the day, and it means so much that he wanted to do this project with us,” says Joe Don Rooney. “He’s one of the best in the business. He truly owned this song…it sounds like a Blake Shelton record now!”
The new song comes as Rascal Flatts have a Top 40 single with “I Dare You” with the Jonas Brothers. The song is the first one they released from their next record.
“It’s about a girl who’s really protecting her heart, and not really sure if she wants to jump into this relationship with this guy,” lead singer Gary LeVox tells iHeartCountry. “Basically, he’s just begging going, ‘Hey, give me a chance. Let me love you. Let me be the one to take that leap of faith.’”
Rascal Flatts also released their chilling “I’m Movin’ On” with Kelly Clarkson.
“‘I’m Movin’ On’ that Kelly did was such a magical, moving moment,” LeVoxboasts. “She had already done the vocal by the time I got in there. We just kind of listened to it really, and it was so good. And I think at that point in her life, that song, she was living it. And so, it was just right for her to do it, and us just put a little salt and pepper on it.”
Rascal Flatts are thrilled with all of the artists who joined them on Life Is A Highway: Refueled Duets.
“It was such an honor to create this project with such incredibly talented artists,” LeVox says. “It’s a pretty indescribable feeling having your colleagues and friends do your songs in such unique ways and knock your socks off with the results.
