Reba McEntire is offering a message of encouragement and hope amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with a new video for her 1997 classic hit, “What If.” Written by Diane Warren, the song was originally released by Reba to raise money for the Salvation Army, but is just as fitting for those working during these trying times, and those struggling with feeling alone.
“This song is as relevant today as it was 23 years ago,” Reba said in a statement. “That’s the power of a great song and Diane Warren is no stranger to writing great songs. Even though we may not be able to physically reach out with just one hand right now, we can still be there for each other and take care of our neighbors, essential workers and medical professionals.
“Re-releasing this song and updated video with its message of care, hope and love felt like the right thing to do,” she added. “Maybe we still can change things.”
Reba has had to cancel both her April and her June shows as part of her Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas residency. She also rescheduled several shows on her upcoming tour.
“For the safety of everyone, we have decided to postpone our new arena tour until July,” Reba said in a statement. “All tickets will be honored for the new dates. Most importantly, stay safe and take care of you and your loved ones. We’ll get through this together.”
Reba’s next scheduled concert is on July 9 in Huntsville, Alabama. Keep track of tour updates at Reba.com.
