Runaway June‘s next album will be a holiday EP! The trio, made up of Naomi Cooke, Jennifer Wayne and Natalie Stovall, will release the five-song project, When I Think About Christmas, on October 16.
“Our new Christmas EP, When I Think About Christmas, has all of these beautiful mountain Appalachian sounds,” Runaway June said in a statement. “So we put our own little spin on Christmas music and we’ve got some fiddle so why not!”
The fiddle is thanks to the addition of Natalie, who replaced founding member Hannah Mulholland earlier this year, adding not only her vocal talents, but her outstanding fiddle skills as well.
“We couldn’t afford a fiddle player on the road,” Jennifer told People. “We could barely afford a guitar player! So it’s been really cool because that’s the sound that we loved from the beginning.”
A love of Christmas music must have been prevalent on Carrie Underwood‘s Cry Pretty Tour 360, where Runaway June and Maddie & Tae served as the opening acts. Carrie’s My Gift Christmas album will be released on September 25, while Maddie & Tae’s We Need Christmas will be out on October 23.
