Jennifer Wayne might have been far away from her fellow Runaway June band members Naomi Cooke and Hannah Mulholland when she became ill with coronavirus, but she still felt their support. Jennifer was in California with her parents when she became sick, and is now praising both Naomi and Hannah for the way they helped her heal, even from afar.
“They are like my sisters,” Jennifer boasted to People. “They have been through all of this with me, always checking if I was okay. I felt every single prayer that people sent to me. I can’t wait to be able to get back on the road and thank everyone.”
Jennifer hopes to soon return to Nashville, so Runaway June can start working on more music –– and hopefully tour rehearsal for when it’s safe to hit the road again –- but she is also eager to help others who have gotten coronavirus as well. For that reason, she is eagerly awaiting when she can donate her plasma to help others currently fighting the disease.
“That’s so important to me,” Jennifer said. “At least I know I can help. It’s a little piece of positive news with all of this.”
The 38-year-old feels fortunate she recovered relatively quickly from the illness, which left her feeling weak and miserable.
“I would get up to go to the bathroom and I would be so exhausted that I would have to come back to bed and sleep for hours,” Jennifer recounted. “That lasted for a good five days. And then, I lost my sense of smell. That’s when I knew I had it.”
Fresh off the success of their Top 10 hit, “Buy My Own Drinks,” the trio is back at radio with “Head Over Heels.” Download or stream the single at RunawayJune.com.
