Russell Dickerson and Wife Kailey Welcome Son, Remington

Russell Dickerson is a dad! The singer and his wife, Kailey, welcomed their first child, a boy, on Thursday, September 10, according to People. Named Remington Edward Dickerson, the baby weighed 10 lbs., 4 ounces, and measured 22.5 inches long.

Although neither Russell nor Kailey have shared a photo of their new son, they did previously reveal the gender of their child, with Russell being the one to surprise Kailey with the news.

Russell and Kailey announced in April that they were expecting their first child. While they were unsure what their child’s name would be, at least at first, Russell knew he wanted the initials to be R.E.D.

“My family has the tradition of the initials R.E.D.; mine’s Russell Edward Dickerson and my dad is Richard Edward Dickerson,” Russell told People at the time. “I want to keep that tradition going, if it’s a boy, of our ‘Edward Dickerson’ name.”

Russell’s current single, “Love You Like I Used To,” is from an upcoming new album. Inspired by his wife Kailey, and their decade of being together (seven years as husband and wife), the song was a deliberate decision by Russell to step out of his comfort zone.

“The beginning of this song is intentionally different for me,” Russell told Everything Nash. “It makes you think it is a breakup song but it is really a lead up to how great loves evolve and get better over time. Like all of my songs, I’ve lived it. I started dating my wife 10 years ago and it is true – I don’t love her like I used to and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this song. It’s a really special song that I’m crazy proud of.”
