Samantha Fish will perform at the Ryman Auditorium on Friday, January 27. The Missouri native will open for Kenny Wayne Shepherd for the concert, two eclectic musicians whose music seamlessly blends well together.
“Kenny is a rockstar in the blues world,” Fish tells Everything Nash. “He’s a fiery guitar player with an amazing band. He’s got a powerful catalog of songs and I’m proud to be doing some dates with him.”
Fish has made a name for herself by bravely refusing to stick to one specific genre. The singer-songwriter, who is also a masterful guitarist, writes, records and performs music that she enjoys, regardless of its style or format.
“I’ve always tried to take chances, and blend different sounds and genres together, but I’m a fan of timeless music,” Fish explains. “I do feel like blues and rock and roll are the consistent pulse throughout my sound and history as an artist. When I started playing guitar and singing, that’s where my passion was and still is, good times or bad. The blues is raw and it compels the heart in a very real way. I find it to be kind of healing. Having been affected in that way by listening at a young age, I wanted to be able to affect people the same way.”
Fish released Faster in 2021, but says fans can expect a new project from her coming out this spring.
“I have a new album coming out with guitarist/songwriter, Jesse Dayton,” Fish reveals. “We wrote 12 original songs and recorded them in Woodstock with Jon Spencer producing the album. It’s called Death Wish Blues, and it will be released in May 2023, followed by some really cool summer tour dates.”
Tickets for the Ryman show are available here. Smith is performing throughout 2023, including more shows with Shepherd, as well as some shows with Eric Johanson and some solo shows. Find all of Fish’s music and upcoming shows at SamanthaFish.com.
