Sara Evans to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ‘Restless’ With Ryman Show

It’s been 20 years since Sara Evans‘ fourth studio album, Restless, was released. The record, out on August 19. 2003. included “Backseat of a Greyhound Bus,” “Perfect,” the No. 1 hit, “Suds in the Bucket,” and more, making it one of Evans’ favorite albums she has ever created.

To celebrate the milestone anniversary, Evans just announced a show at the Ryman Auditorium, Sara Evans Still Restless – The 20 Year Celebration, taking place on August 17.

“I’ve never performed the full album from start to finish before, so this will be a special treat to sing these songs that I love so much on the Ryman stage, along with many of my other hits,” Evans says. “I love all of my albums and each one has a special place in my heart, but I’ve always said that Restless is my favorite.

“There was magic in the studio when we were making the record that brought life into these songs, some of which I wrote and some that were written by many of the best songwriters in the world.” she adds.

Evans released her Born to Fly memoir in 2020, detailing her life and career, including her rural Missouri upbringing, and her country music career.

“I was approached by the publisher about writing a book,” Evans told Everything Nash of her reason for releasing her memoir. “At first I was like, ‘No, I’m not ready to write an autobiography. I’m not old enough. I’m just not ready to do that yet. because my kids are still young, and I just don’t want to write about stuff that might embarrass them.’ This happens a lot, you keep getting pushed in a direction even though you’re like, ‘That’s not what we discussed!’

“I kept getting pushed towards the memoir part of it,” she continued. “I wanted to write a book called I Don’t Know How She Does It. I wanted to talk about raising three kids on the road, work ethic, how to be a great mom and still have a career, and all kinds of things like that. But they kept pushing towards the memoir stuff and saying, ‘We need more back story. We need more back story about why you are this way and how did you become this way?’ So then I finally just caved and I was like, ‘Fine, I will write a memoir.”
