Sara Evans will release her new album, Copy That, on Friday, May 15. Sara didn’t plan n releasing the 13-track record, which is covers of some of Sara’s favorite songs, during a global pandemic, but she thinks now might actually be the best time for her to share her latest project with her fans.
“People are looking for new music to listen to, new books to read, new television shows to watch,” Sara reflected to People. “Maybe this is actually the best time for new music. Maybe this is a blessing after all. I know my fans have been waiting for this album for so long.”
Copy That covers a wide variety of genres, from Patsy Cline’s “She’s Got You,” to The Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong,” and The Wallflowers’ “6th Avenue Heartache.” What ties them all together is how Sara feels about each of the tunes.
“Every single one of these songs make me happy in one way or another,” Sara acknowledged. “I was listening to ‘Crazy Love’ and I almost started crying just listening to it. And then there are days when I’m cleaning the house and all I want to do is listen to ‘My Sharona.’ It just depends on the day. All of it feels really good to me right about now.”
Sara is self-quarantining at home right now, along with much of the rest of the world, and relying on her faith during these uncertain times.
“I think God causes things to happen sometimes to get our attention,” Sara admitted. “But I also know that God loves us and cares for us and knows the details in our lives. Maybe that’s it. Or maybe it’s just a virus. Or maybe it’s all the above.”
