New music might soon be on its way from Scotty McCreery. The North Carolina native reveals on social media that he has written 13 songs for his next project, only a few months after the release of his Same Truck: The Deluxe Album.
“1 mountain house. 2 days. 5 guys. 13 songs written,” McCreery captioned some photos on social media. “Unreal mountain writing retreat this week. Can’t wait for yall to hear this stuff!”
McCreery is currently enjoying a Top 20 hit with “It Matters To Her.” The song was written by McCreery, along with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller, and inspired by his wife, Gabi. “It Matters to Her” follows his multi-week, No. 1 “Damn Strait” single.
“It’s a song that I love,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “And it’s a message I think needs to be heard, and it’s coming off of my biggest song to date with ‘Damn Strait.’ So it’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there … to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces. It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd. And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”
The American Idol alum recently performed at the Grand Ole Opry, where he spoke about how much his life has changed since welcoming his osn, Avery, in October.
“It is the coolest thing I have ever done,” McCreery told host Chuck Wicks after his performance. “It’s awesome. Every day is awesome. Nothing beats it.”
The 29-year-old admitted he shed a few tears when he first held Avery in his arms, and is thrilled to get to watch him grow.
“Waterworks, absolutely,” McCreery said. “But it’s just so cool seeing him. He’s smiling. He’s growing up, so the smiles that he’s giving you, it’s not poop smiles now. He’s actually laughing at you. It’s pretty great.”
McCreery is part of the American Currents exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The exhibit, which also includes items from Cody Johnson, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, HARDY, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, Lainey Wilson, Parker McCollum, Ashley McBryde, Wynonna Judd and more, will open on March 8.
McCreery is currently on his own headlining Damn Strait Tour. He recently took time out of his schedule to perform for a benefit show, Good for Country, raising money for the East Texas Food Bank. More than $30,000 was raised for the important cause.
McCreery will also join Brooks & Dunn on their REBOOT 2023 Tour, which begins on Thursday, May 4. He will return to the Grand Ole Opry on March 9. Find all of his music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
