Scotty McCreery to Release 'Red Letter Blueprint' With Jason Crabb

Scotty McCreery and Jason Crabb took their new duet to the Grand Ole Opry. The two performed “Red Letter Blueprint” during a recent performance at the Opry, shortly after they released the gorgeous duet.

It was McCreery’s guitarist Spence Peppard, who had the idea to include Crabb on the song. Peppard, also friends with Crabb, made the phone call that connected the two talented singers together.

“I couldn’t be happier with how this whole thing turned out,” McCreery says, in a video shared on social media. He also recalls when he first heard the demo of their “Red Letter Blueprint” collaboration.

“I was floored with your performance, and the whole track,” McCreery tells Crabb. “I’m just so pumped up this all worked out.”

McCreery recently revealed that it was his grandfather who inspired him to write “Red Letter Blueprint.” The North Carolina native penned the song with Derek George, Brent Anderson, Jeremy Bussey and Monty Criswell, which appears on his latest  Rise & Fall album, released in 2024.

“Both my granddaddy’s were very influential in my life,” McCreery explains. “My granddaddy R.P. in particular. He was Andy Griffith, basically. He was a state trooper in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Everybody knew him, everybody loved him. He was a man of God and always prayed before every meal for the whole family. Just a guy that I grew up wanting to be like, like my granddaddy. This song was very inspired by him.”

A devout Christian, McCreery says “Red Letter Blueprint” is a glimpse at his own faith.

“It’s just about how, every answer you need is right there in the Good Book, in the Bible,” McCreery shares. “I try to dive in and read the Word as best as I can. I’m like everybody who wishes they could do more, but it’s just that kind of song. ‘Hey, if life is going here, if life is going there,’ it applies to those right there. It’s a special song. I loved it when we were writing it. I love how it’s come out in the studio. I think folks will enjoy it.”

McCreery might be a country music artist, but it’s his faith that is the most important thing to him, especially as a husband and father.

“My faith is everything to me,” McCreery says. “It’s held me up during my lows, and it’s been with me when I celebrate my highs. This new album was influenced by the rises and falls in my life through the years, so I wanted to sing about what sustains me. I’ve featured songs about my wife and my son, but I also wanted to share a song about my faith. I hope it is comforting to anyone who may need to hear these words.”

McCreery will spend part of 2025 opening for Kane Brown on Brown’s The High Road Tour. He will also headline his own UK Tour this year.  Find all of McCreery’s music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
