Christmas is coming early for Scotty McCreery fans. The American Idol alum announces the release of “Feel Like the Holidays,” out on Friday, October 20. The song was written by Frank Rogers, Monty Criswell, Derek George, Bobby Hamrick and Jeremy Bussey.
“Christmas is my favorite time of year and I sing Christmas songs every day,” McCreery says. “When I first heard ‘Feel Like the Holidays,’ I knew I wanted to record the song. It has that timeless, classic Christmas music vibe and is so much fun. It feels like something that Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, or Michael Buble would sing. I’m looking forward to performing it this holiday season.”
McCreery will once again be part of this year’s Opry Country Christmas, along with Lauren Alaina, Trace Adkins, Lady A, Chris Janson, and more.
“The Opry, country music and Christmastime, What’s not to love?” McCreery previously reflected to Everything Nash. “It’s just my favorite season. It’s my favorite kind of music. I sing Christmas music all year long, so to get to do it at the Grand Ole Opry, and have a packed house there at the Opry House, I’m gonna be in hog heaven. I love it. I can’t wait for that.”
The news of the Christmas single comes the same day as the tickets for his upcoming Cab In A Solo Tour are on sale. The North Carolina native will be joined by Anne Wilson for all dates, with Greylan James and Noah Hicks joining McCreery on select dates as well.
“I’m on the road year ‘round, but I always love putting together specific tours and I think next year’s Cab in a Solo Tour is gonna be one of my favorites,” McCreery says. “Happy to have Anne Wilson join us on the road – she’s a great singer. Depending on the city, either Greylan James or Noah Hicks will be opening up the show and they’re both fantastic performers. And who knows, maybe I’ll share a few songs from my upcoming new album! I’m looking forward to it!”
October is a big month for McCreery. In addition to the news of his tour and Christmas single, the North Carolina native also celebrated his 30th birthday.
“I feel like I got started so long ago,” McCreery told Everything Nash, speaking of the milestone birthday. “I’ve been doing this so long, and now I’m turning 30. A lot of people are getting started at 30. I’ve lived a lot of life. I’ve got a lot of great memories. I still love that I get to do this and travel the world, singing country music. I’d like to think I’m a little wiser, and know a little bit more than when I started, but 30 is a big deal.”
McCreery will also have another big birthday to celebrate later this year, when his son, Avery, whom he shares with his wife, Gabi, turns one on October 24.
“It’s been just the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” McCreery said of being a father. “It’s been the best. I feel like your priorities change, everything changes. You’re no longer thinking about, ‘What are my plans today?’ It’s like, ‘No, what are we doing with Avery? What does he need to be going on?’ And if we’re gonna go somewhere, we’re bringing him. Everything shifts, but it’s all for the better. And just getting to watch him grow and kind of come into his self and get his own little personality, it’s just so rewarding, and so cool to watch as a dad.”
