Scotty McCreery Donates Proceeds From ‘Carolina to Me’ to Samaritan’s Purse

Scotty McCreery is still remembering those in his home state of North Carolina who are recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The 31-year-old, who performed as part of the Concert for Carolina, announces he is making another generous donation, this one to Samaritan’s Purse, to help in the ongoing efforts.

“The people of North Carolina and the surrounding region are still struggling from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and need our support on the long road to recovery,” McCreery shares on social media. “I’m giving a portion of proceeds for any sales or streams of my song ‘Carolina to Me’ to Samaritan’s Purse to continue with relief efforts. Thank you for your continued support.”

Samaritan’s Purse is one of the three charities McCreery suggested in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, along with Greater Good Music and Baptists on Mission.

“It’s tough to find the words, but Gabi and I have been so sad to see the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene,” McCreery said only a few days after Hurricane Helene made landfall. “This storm has affected so many people, many of them are our personal friends and neighbors. I see a lot of you asking on here how to help those in need in Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Southwestern Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. If you are able to help financially, here are three organizations that we love and have personally donated to. They are doing amazing work to help those devastated communities.”

The Grand Ole Opry member also shared what being from North Carolina means to him, and why he was so personally devastated by the mass destruction.

“These mountains are where Gabi and I got engaged, and where we got married,” McCreery said. “These mountains are where I wrote my last album. We named our first son after Avery County, a place we now call home. The views are amazing, but the people there are what make these mountains so special, and those people need our help. However you choose to help, be it one of these three organizations, another group, donating supplies, or even just your supplies, thank you.”

McCreery was out of town when Hurricane Helene hit, but immediately vowed to do all he could to help those impacted by the deadly storm.

“It’s devastating,” McCreery tells American Songwriter. “We’re trying to do what we can to help. We’re in talks with the other artists about doing some kind of thing.”
