Scotty McCreery has a new version of his hit single, out now. The 31-year-old just dropped an acoustic version of “Fall of Summer.” The song is the second release from his latest Rise & Fall album, following “Cab In A Solo,” which became his sixth No. 1 single.
“There’s something about the vibe of ‘Fall of Summer’ that lends itself to an acoustic version,” McCreery says. “It brings an even more intimate feel to this wistful look back at a past summer love. Hope everyone enjoys it.”
McCreery previously released another version of “Fall of Summer,” this one name-checking his home state of North Carolina. McCreery was inspired to release the new version after both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at NC State made it to the NCAA Final Four last spring,
In the new lyrics, McCreery sings, “You sent one ‘I miss you’ when you got back home to Dallas / I said come see me at NC State.” Fans quickly latched onto the idea, inserting their own college names into the song, which is what inspired McCreery to drop the new version.
The American Idol alum just dropped the video for “Fall of Summer.” He also recently released the video for “Porch,” another song from Rise & Fall, this one featuring his wife, Gabi, and two-year-old son, Avery.
McCreery will perform in his home state on Saturday, October 26, as part of the Concert for Carolina, raising money to help recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene. Organized and headlined by Luke Combs and Eric Church, McCreery joins an impressive lineup that also includes James Taylor, Billy Strings, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman and Sheryl Crow, Chase Rice, and Parmalee.
In the immediate aftermath of the deadly storm, the Grand Ole Opry member offered three charities that he and his wife Gabi personally support, for fans who wanted to contribute to the recovery efforts.
“If you are able to help financially, here are three organizations that we love and have personally donated to,” McCreery wrote on social media, listing Samaritan’s Purse, Greater Good Music and Baptists on Mission. “They are doing amazing work to help those devastated communities.”
McCreery is headlining his own Fall of Summer Tour throughout the remainder of this year. He will spend part of 2025 on the road with Kane Brown, for Brown’s The High Road Tour, serving as one of the opening acts, along with Ashley Cooke, Mitchell Tenpenny and Dasha. McCreery will also headline his own overseas tour in the UK as well next year.
“It’s been too long and I cannot wait to come back to the UK,” McCreery said when the international dates were announced. “We’ve had so many e-mails and social media posts from fans asking us to return, and I’m happy to say ‘we’re coming!’ I’ve never been to Belfast or Birmingham before, and I am looking forward to visiting those cities. I’ve only been to Glasgow as part of C2C a few years ago, so I’m excited to come on my own. And the band and I had a blast the last time we were in London and Manchester, so I knew we had to come back there. It’s always special to come and perform in the UK!”
