Scotty McCreery had an important role for the recent Opry 100: A Live Celebration. The 31-year-old served as the announcer for the entire show, and also performed as part of the star-studded “I Will Always Love You” tribute to Dolly Parton for the show’s finale.
“The Opry has played such an important role in country music history,” McCreery tells Country Now. “I think without that radio tower down on [Interstate] 65, I’m not sure country music would be where it’s at today. WSM and the Opry have played such a vital role. I love this place; I love the history of this place. I love that all my heroes have played this place and loved it too.”
McCreery was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Josh Turner last April. For McCreery, it was his highest career goal coming to fruition.
“It feels pretty fantastic, to be honest,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “It’s a dream come true. It’s an invitation — you never know if you’re going to get that call, so it just means the world. And how it went down, with Garth Brooks being the one to do the invitation, and Josh Turner being the guy to induct me. In my wildest dreams, I couldn’t have thought up anything better. I’m just so thankful.”

McCreery is currently joining Kane Brown, serving as the opening act on Brown’s The High Road Tour. But McCreery also has big plans for his headlining tour to the United Kingdom later this year. The North Carolina native is bringing his entire family for the overseas trek, planning a big vacation around his numerous tour dates.
“My whole family’s coming … my parents, my in-laws, my wife, my kids,” McCreery reveals to People. “So we’ll make a little family vacation out of the European tour, and see a lot of fans, … and we’ll do all the tourist stuff, I’m sure, take all the pictures. It’ll be a good time.”
When announcing the tour, McCreery said he was eager to return to the United Kingdom.
“It’s been too long and I cannot wait to come back to the UK,” McCreery said at the time. “We’ve had so many e-mails and social media posts from fans asking us to return, and I’m happy to say ‘we’re coming!’ I’ve never been to Belfast or Birmingham before, and I am looking forward to visiting those cities. I’ve only been to Glasgow as part of C2C a few years ago, so I’m excited to come on my own. And the band and I had a blast the last time we were in London and Manchester, so I knew we had to come back there. It’s always special to come and perform in the UK!”
