“Five More Minutes” is from McCreery’s 2018 Seasons Change album. He recently announced the release of Seasons Change: Platinum Edition, the entire project on vinyl, with four bonus acoustic tracks, including “Five More Minutes” plus “In Between,” “This Is It” and “Still.”

“The Seasons Change album was truly life-changing for me,” McCreery says. “After experiencing both some career highs and lows, I was starting over. For the first time, I co-wrote all the songs and felt like the project was truly me. It has been both gratifying and confidence-building to see how the fans, radio and streaming have embraced the music from this album and me. I’m a guy who loves to look back, and I celebrate the release of this new expanded edition and all the accomplishments we’ve made since the original album came out, while also looking ahead to making new dreams come true.”

Not only is “Five More Minutes” McCreery’s first chart-topping single, but he released it on his own, after being dropped from his first record label, Mercury Nashville. McCreery was dropped after his former single, “Southern Belle,” didn’t do well at radio. McCreery believed the label would follow that song with “Five More Minutes,” but when they dropped him from their roster, he released it independently instead, fueled solely by his belief in the song.

“I knew as soon as we wrote it, and I tweeted it out that day on Twitter — I said, ‘I think I just wrote my favorite song I’ve ever written.’ McCreery tells  The Music Universe.  “And that’s really how I felt and I think still do. It’s one of those songs where you kind of realize how much more alike we all are than different, because anybody at any point in their life, whether they’re young, middle-aged, old, they’ve all got those moments where they wish they could have five more minutes.

“Whether it was a loved one that’s gone, passed on, or whether it’s just thinking back to little moments, like the front porch kiss in the song, and thinking of the high school days when you just graduated and now those days are over,” he adds. “There are so many little moments throughout life that I think anybody who listened can think to a moment in their own life where they wish they had that much time left.”
